Burton Shotokan Karate Club teaches traditional karate that as been practiced by the masters for many years. The club is run by Sensei Pete Simnett who has many years experience. Unlike other clubs this is a none profit making club, therefore more focus is placed on the students well being and their progress rather than finance. Sensei Pete Simnett believes that Shotokan style of karate skills will stay with an individual for a life time, improve your well being and give you confidence.
Training can suit people who just simply want to become fit. Our style of teaching can instill confidence that may help you cope with awkward situations that may occur.
Many people that often join a club may do so to meet others. As a club we like to visit other clubs, enter competitions and attend seminars. We feel that this encourages club camaraderie and support for one and other. We also promote a friendly atmosphere when training whilst maintaining a focus on what is being taught.
Safety is the ultimate priority when training. No contact sparring will be conducted without the student reaching a required standard and their willingness to take part.
